Seven deaths from Covid-19 yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 1,451 new Covid-19 cases and seven deaths yesterday.

Based on data from CovidNow and GitHub, of the new cases, 1,445 were local transmissions while six were imported.

Two thirds of the new cases were reported in the Klang Valley, of which 665 infections were logged in Selangor, 287 in Kuala Lumpur and 22 in Putrajaya.

Apart from that, 84 cases were reported in Penang, 73 in Perak, 72 in Negri Sembilan, 45 in Kedah, 44 in Sarawak, 43 in Melaka, 36 in Sabah, 29 in Johor, 18 in Terengganu, 15 in Kelantan, 13 in Pahang, four in Perlis and one in Labuan.

The seven fatalities, which included three brought-in-dead cases, were two each in Selangor and Kedah as well as one each in Johor, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur.

Currently, a total of 23,152 individuals in the country are infected with Covid-19. A majority of the cases (22,160) are undergoing home quarantine, 945 cases treated at hospitals, 28 cases warded at intensive care units (ICU) and 19 at Covid-19 treatment and quarantine centres.

Yesterday, 422 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals. As of now, 12.4 per cent of Covid-19 beds are utilised while 5.9 per cent of the Covid-19 ICU beds are used.

A total 68.4 per cent of adults – 16,098,582 individuals - have been boosted against Covid-19.
