Two Covid-19 deaths reported yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reported 1,871 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths yesterday, while a total 1,715 recoveries were recorded.

Data on CovidNow showed the country recorded 4,510,196 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began while 4,451,308 individuals recovered and 35,680 succumbed to the virus.

Currently, 23,208 people are infected with coronavirus with 95.7 per cent isolated at home, 4.1 per cent receiving treatment at hospitals, 0.2 per cent warded at intensive care units (ICU) and the remaining 0.1 per cent at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Currently, 17 cases are in ICUs and ventilated.

The Health Ministry detected an education cluster and Jalan Ipoh cluster, in Titiwangsa and Kepong districts, Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

So far, 34 cases are linked to this cluster.

Daily admissions increased slightly to 452 yesterday, compared to 440 on Wednesday.

Covid-19 bed utilisation rates remain at 12.4 per cent while 6.2 per cent of ICU beds are occupied.

Overall, 66.3 per cent of hospital beds are occupied nationwide, ICU beds at 60.7 per cent, 5.4 per cent of PKRC beds and 36.3 per cent of ventilators are being used.
