Two new Covid-19 deaths; 1,358 infections yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia logged 1,358 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

According to data from CovidNow and Github, 1,356 were local infections while two more were imported.

The highest cases were reported in Selangor with 569 followed by 264 infections in Kuala Lumpur and 105 in Penang.

The rest of the states reported double and single digit cases.

Two deaths were also recorded yesterday including a brought-in-dead (BID) case.

One death was reported in Sarawak and Selangor each.

The death toll now stands at 35,688 since the pandemic began two years ago.

Active cases are now at 22,183 after 1,620 recoveries were reported yesterday.

A total 21,232 cases are observing home quarantine and 21 placed at Low Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Another 904 patients are hospitalised, while 14 receiving treatment at intensive care units (ICU) are unventilated and 12 others ventilated.
