Don't pile pressure on children, Kedah MB advises parents

ALOR STAR: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor today advised parents against piling pressure on children who did not get satisfactory results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

Sanusi said while being the first batch of candidates under the new Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah (KSSM) curriculum, the candidates who sat for the examination last year also had to endure many hurdles due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"To me, the candidates for 2021 SPM were a special group of students because they were not only the first cohort of KSSM but were really tested by having to study during a full pandemic environment.

"As such, I hope parents will not pile pressure on their children, should their results be less than satisfactory. Instead motivate them to be successful in the future," Sanusi said in a statement today.

He also advised those who did not obtain the results that they had hoped for, to accept it with an open heart while reminding them that it was not the end of their life.

"Never give up and take this as a turning point to motivate you in striving for success in future," he said.

Sanusi also took the opportunity to congratulate SPM candidates who excelled in the examination.

"Congratulations to all candidates who excelled in 2021 SPM. Keep it up with humility.

"Always remember that this is not the climax in life but just the beginning. Continue working hard to strive for greater success in future," he said.
