'Please pray for my 3-year-old son'

KOTA BARU: "Please pray for my three-year-old son. He is now fighting for his life at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII) intensive care unit after doctors found drugs inside his body."

This was the plea from Rohaya Hassan when talking about her 3-year-old son, Mohamad Daniel Abdullah, who is in critical condition at the hospital.

"Until today, I cannot believe what happened to my youngest son.

"Seeing him in this kind of condition with tube and wires around his face and body really fills my heart with sadness," said the 36-year-old mother of three.

When met at the hospital tonight, Rohaya said she did not expect that the close relative suspected to have plied the child with drugs could commit such a cruel act.

"My son is a Person with Disability (PWD) and he has never left home and followed others, except his grandparents.

"The day it happened (Saturday), my son actually went missing for three hours and when he returned home about 5pm, my son looked tired," said Rohaya who is from Kampung Sri Bintang near Dabong Kuala Krai.

She then rushed her son to Gua Musang Hospital, before he was transferred to HRPZII.

Police received a report about the incident on Sunday and following this detained a 30-year-old man.

The suspect, believed to be a drug addict, was remanded for seven days beginning today.

Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for abandoning, neglecting or exposing a child to danger and causing/or to cause physical or emotional injury to the child.

It was learnt that the boy now suffers from drug toxicity.
