Hari Raya Aidiladha date to be announced tonight

KUALA LUMPUR: Keeper of the Ruler's Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad is expected to announce the date of this year's Hari Raya Aidiladha tonight.

The Kuala Lumpur Federal Territories Mufti Office, in a Facebook post today, said it would conduct the Zulhijjah 1443H moon sighting at three locations later today.

The locations are at the Kuala Lumpur Tower, Putrajaya International Convention Centre and at the 10th floor of the University Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus.

Aidiladha is one of two major festivals celebrated by Muslims every year. It falls on the 10th day of Zulhijjah, according to the Hijrah calendar.

Most calendars in Malaysia state that the first day of Zulhijjah this year falls on July 1, and that the first day of Aidiladha will fall on July 10.
