Jihad Task Force meets - chicken prices and cooking oil main agenda

KUALA LUMPUR: The government's special Jihad Task Force to address inflation will meet for the first time in Putrajaya today.

In a letter sighted by the New Straits Times, the meeting is set to discuss three main agendas namely the new controlled prices for poultry and eggs, issues related to cooking oil and the current distribution status of Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia aid.

It is understood there will also be a presentation on the terms of reference for the special committee to tackle inflation.

The meeting is chaired by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the formation of the special task force, which received the Cabinet's nod to address inflation in the country.

The task force will be responsible for gathering information from ministries, agencies and the public to formulate strategies and coordinate actions to resolve inflation-related issues, particularly on the increase in prices of goods it can be managed more effectively and efficiently.

This special task force will function like the Covid-19 Special Task Force which operates by holding two meetings weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, for example.

The members of the special task force consists of Annuar who is the chairman of the task force joined by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Sri Mustapa Mohamed and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.
