2,527 new Covid-19 cases, no new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: Daily Covid-19 cases in Malaysia continue to hover above 2,000 with 2,527 new infections reported on Saturday.

The highest number of cases were reported in Selangor with 798 followed by 726 in Kuala Lumpur.

These fresh cases push the country's cumulative caseload to 4,571,355 since the pandemic began.

There are 30,385 active cases nationwide with 28,701 of them observing home quarantine; 24 at Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC), and 1,617 hospitalised where 43 are treated at intensive care units (ICU) with 22 on ventilators.

On hospital bed usage, several states recorded utilisation rates above 70 per cent — Melaka, Terengganu, Kedah, Johor, Sarawak, Perlis, Selangor, Pahang, Negri Sembilan and Kelantan.

Yesterday's recoveries of 2,359 raised the recovery tally to 4,505,199 while no new Covid-19 deaths were reported.

Authorities have administered 71,258,983 vaccine doses so far including 16,145,763 booster shots.

As for children, 1,747,444 of them have taken at least one dose of the vaccine while 1,358,223 of them have received their full dose.
