BALING: At least 20 houses in Kampung Iboi and Kampung Tanjung Luas, in Kupang near here were affected by floods following two hours of heavy rainfall today.
The water started rising and entered the homes of the villagers about 6pm, after Sungai Kupang broke its banks.
Malaysian Civil Defence Force spokesman Rasidah Kassim said the team began receiving emergency calls from the victims at about the same time.
"We have deployed rescuers to the two locations and are ready to evacuate the villagers if needed," she said in a statement.
It is learnt that it was still raining at the two areas.
