KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 1,918 fresh Covid-19 cases, including two imported cases, in the last 24 hours.
These new infections pushed the country's cumulative caseloads to 4,538,035 since the pandemic struck two years ago.
The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal showed that majority of the fresh cases were recorded in the Klang Valley with 1,180 infections, Kuala Lumpur registering 660 cases and Selangor 482 cases.
Perak had 153 new cases, Sabah (119), Negri Sembilan (103), Johor (89), Penang (77), Kedah (48), Melaka (44), Putrajaya (38), Pahang (27), Sarawak (25), Kelantan (20), Terengganu (20), Labuan (six), and Perlis (five)
The data repository also showed that 28,140 of the active cases observed quarantine at home; 26 at the quarantine and low risk treatment centres whereas another 1,172 were admitted to the hospitals.
There were 44 cases being treated at the intensive care units with 24 of these patients requiring ventilators.
On Covid-19 fatalities, the data repository showed there were eight deaths yesterday and none of them were brought-in-dead. These latest fatalities pushed the country's death toll to 35,784 cases.
Malaysia also recorded 2,321 new recoveries yesterday, bringing the cumulative recovery to 4,510,643 cases.
On vaccination against Covid-19, the number of vaccines being administered were 71,272,417 with 4,551 vaccines administered yesterday..
