Pregnant Baling flood victim was supposed to find out gender of unborn child today

BALING: Nurul Anis Abu Hassan, 28, who was killed in yesterday's devastating floods, was four months pregnant and supposed to have an examination today to find out the gender of her unborn child.

She was very excited over the birth of her first child and was looking forward to purchasing baby items in preparation for the baby's arrival.

Her husband, Mohd Khairul Asyraf Nor Azman, 24, who works in Penang, was supposed to return home today and had planned to fulfil his wife's wish to eat pizza.

"I am grateful that the bodies of the three people I love were found in less than 24 hours and in perfect condition by the rescue team today.

"Although I was upset because I did not have time to fulfil the request of my late wife to take her out to eat today, I have accepted what happened as fate.

"Since last night, I have been praying that my mother (Salmah Mat Akib, 51), wife and younger brother (Khairul Ikhwan Nor Azman, 14) would be found as soon as possible."

Khairul Asyraf said the bodies of the three family members will be buried in Kampung Charok Bemban, after the post-mortem examination at the Baling Hospital's Forensic Unit is completed.

Nurul Anis's body was found at 9.30am early this morning, embracing the body of her mother-in-law, about 100m from their house which was washed away by floodwater yesterday.

The body of Khairul Ikhwan, a Form Two student from SMK Jerai, was found at 11.55am this morning.

Yesterday, heavy rains caused flash floods to hit several areas in Kupang, damaging homes in at least 20 villages.

The areas reported to be severely affected were Kampung Iboi and Kampung Tanjung Luas after a river overflowed in the nearby areas.
