Baling floods: Ensure relief aid reaches victims [NSTTV]

BALING: Those on humanitarian missions are urged to work with the Baling Disaster Operation Control Centre (DOCC) to ensure relief efforts reach the victims.

Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) spokeswoman Siti Syarifah Mahadi said today: "Help is pouring in but we need to make sure that all the donations are well-coordinated to avoid wastage.

"Hence, it is vital for the donors to communicate with DOCC so we can coordinate the relief missions to equally distribute donations to all 12 affected villages."

Siti Syarifah added that there was already an oversupply of clothes and dried food to the affected areas and urged well-wishers to focus on other essential items.

"Based on feedback from the three flood relief centres, among the items still required are sleeping mats, sanitary pads, disposable diapers for babies and adults, baby formula milk, prayer clothing for women and prayer mats," she said.

All the donations are being gathered at the SMK Jerai flood relief centres before being distributed to the victims.
