Baling flood victim tests positive for Covid-19

BALING: One of the flood victims in Baling tested positive for Covid-19, the first involving those evacuated in Monday's tragedy.

State Health director Dr Othman Warijo said three of the positive case's close contacts have been isolated.

The patient has been placed in the isolation ward at the Baling Hospital.

"The patient tested positive and is in category 2 and we have also identified three close contacts who have been placed in isolation at the flood relief centre.

"All the close contacts showed no symptoms and have tested negative via the RTK-Ag," he said in a statement today.

The floods in Baling on Monday inundated 12 villages, leaving a massive trail of destruction in its wake which included the deaths of three members of a family.
