35,323 active Covid-19 cases

 

KUALA LUMPUR: 41 Covid-19 patients are warded at intensive care units (ICU) nationwide yesterday, of which 26 are ventilated.

These patients in the ICUs marked a utilisation rate of 10 per cent for Covid-19 patients, while the nation's overall usage stood at 60.7 per cent.

Active Covid-19 cases are now at 35,323 as reported by the Health Ministry on its CovidNow portal. 

Of the number, 34,107 were observing home quarantine; 1,156 were hospitalised, while 19 others were placed at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres. 

Yesterday, 2,799 new positive cases, with only two imported infections, were reported to the ministry. This marked a dip from Friday's 3,589 and 4,020 on Thursday.

The cumulative caseload is now at 4,592,710 since the pandemic struck in 2020. 

Selangor had the highest number of fresh cases with 910 followed by Kuala Lumpur with 668 and 245 in Perak. 

Eight deaths were reported, bringing the number of Covid-19 fatalities to 35,809.

Three deaths were reported in Selangor, two in Melaka, and one each in Kedah, Perak and Sabah. 

The number of people who recovered from the virus yesterday was 2,666.

On vaccination, 97.9 per cent or 23,030,483 adults above 18 have been fully inoculated against Covid-19 while 68.7 per cent or 16,154,366 have taken their booster shots. 

As for children aged five to 11, 39.9 per cent or 1,415,013 have been fully immunised while 49.8 per cent or 1,766,656 have received one dose. 

As for adolescents, 93 per cent or 2,893,619 have received two doses while 95.6 per cent or 2,975,348 are partially inoculated.
