3,246 new Covid-19 cases, two deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia logged 3,246 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, a significant increase from 2,799 cases the day before.

According to CovidNow and Github data, 3,249 were local infections and five more were imported cases.

The bulk of cases were reported in Selangor with 1,326, followed by 847 in Kuala Lumpur.

The rest of the states reported below 250 cases.

Two deaths were recorded yesterday - one in Sarawak and another in Selangor.

The death toll now stands at 35,811 since the pandemic began two years ago.

Active cases now stands at 35,882 after 2,703 recoveries reported yesterday.

A total of 34,659 cases were under home quarantine, 24 at Low Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres, 1,156 hospitalised and 43 receiving treatment at intensive care units with 26 undergoing ventilation support.

For Covid-19 vaccination, 2,572,611 of adults above the age of 60 had taken a dose of the booster shot while 84,238 were administered with second boosters.
