Covid-19: 2,417 new cases, five deaths reported on Monday [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reported 2,417 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the lowest daily figure in the past seven-days.

Of the 2,417 fresh infections, 884 recorded in Selangor, 642 in Kuala Lumpur, 166 in Perak, 164 in Sabah, 138 in Negri Sembilan, 112 in Penang, 66 in Melaka, 59 in Johor, 41 in Kedah, 37 in Putrajaya, 30 in Sarawak, 28 each in Kelantan and Pahang, 15 in Terengganu, six in Labuan and one in Perlis.

Only four of yesterday's reported cases were imported, while the remaining 2,413 were local transmissions.

Since the pandemic began, a total 4,598,391 individuals were infected with the coronavirus.

Of the total, 4,526,817 people who recovered, 35,816 individuals died of the virus and 35,758 are currently infected.

Yesterday (July 11), 2,536 recoveries and five deaths were reported to the Health Ministry.

The five fatalities include two brought-in-dead cases in Penang.

On Monday, 404 Covid-19 cases were admitted to hospitals. Currently, 18.2 per cent of Covid-19 normal beds are used, 11.7 per cent of intensive care unit beds (ICU) are utilised and 20.6 per cent of Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre (PKRC) beds are occupied.

A total 34,526 cases are undergoing home quarantine, 1,164 are hospitalised, 48 treated at ICUs and 20 being monitored at PKRCs.

Twenty-five of the ICU cases are on ventilator support.
