Jho Low tried to 'settle', AGC confirms

KUALA LUMPUR: Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low made attempts to engage with the Malaysian government for a settlement.

The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) confirmed this in a statement today, adding that his attempts however had been rejected.

"The AGC confirms that Jho Low, through his representatives, has made attempts to engage with the government of Malaysia for a settlement this year.

"In these attempts, Jho Low's representatives met with agencies of the government of Malaysia including the AGC.

"All offers for a settlement from Jho Low's representatives were rejected by the AGC," the statement read.

Yesterday, a news report by The Edge, quoting sources, had claimed that Jho Low offered RM1.5 billion to the Malaysian government to settle the charges against him.

Jho Low is accused of siphoning money from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), and is facing a US$3.78 billion or RM16.82 billion lawsuit filed by 1MDB and four of its subsidiaries.
