4,503 new Covid-19 cases, 10 deaths on July 27

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of daily Covid-19 cases dropped slightly to 4,503 while 10 people in the country died of the coronavirus on Wednesday.

More than half of the new infections were recorded in Klang Valley, namely 1,706 in Selangor, highest among all states and federal territories, 989 in Kuala Lumpur, and 100 in Putrajaya.

Other cases were the 306 registered in Perak, 265 in Penang, 238 in Sabah, 173 in Negri Sembilan, 171 in Melaka, 159 in Kedah, 120 in Johor, 81 in Sarawak, 74 in Pahang, 62 in Kelantan, 42 in Terengganu, 11 in Labuan and six in Perlis.

Malaysia reported 4,759 cases on July 26.

There were 3,847 recoveries and 10 fatalities including four brought-in-dead cases.

As of yesterday (July 27), a total of 4,664,213 individuals in the country were infected with Covid-19, of which, 4,581,365 people recovered from the virus, 35,942 died due to the infection and 46,906 cases are currently Covid-19 positive.

Of the active cases, 96.6 per cent (45,318 people) are undergoing home quarantine, 3.2 per cent (1,505 people) are receiving treatment at hospitals, 0.2 per cent (59 people) are treated at intensive care units (ICU) and 0.1 per cent are isolated at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Thirty ICU cases require ventilator support.

The nation's positivity rate stood at nine per cent on July 25, the highest for the past two weeks.

A total of 57,807 tests – 50,393 RTK and 7,414 PCR - were reported to the Health Ministry on that day.

Yesterday, 564 Covid-19 cases were admitted to the hospitals.

Overall, 69.2 per cent of the hospital beds are currently being used, occupied by both Covid and non-Covid patients while 62 per cent and 42.2 per cent of the ICU beds and ventilators are utilised respectively nationwide.

Meanwhile, 1.3 per cent of the adult population or 314,977 individuals aged 18-years-old and above in the country had received forth Covid-19 vaccinations to date.

The total number of adults who had taken their first booster stood at 16,133,740 or 68.6 per cent of the population.

Yesterday, 319 adults received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, 366 completed second dose, 1,316 taken first booster shot while 10,010 received their fourth jab.
