10 deaths, 4,860 new Covid-19 cases, yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia logged 4,860 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, an increase from 3,926 cases the day before.

According to CovidNow and Github data, 4,849 were local infections and 11 imported.

Bulk of cases were reported in Selangor with 1,649 infections followed by 1,466 in Kuala Lumpur.

Other states reported below 300 cases.

Ten deaths were also recorded yesterday including one brought-in-dead (BID) case.

Five deaths were reported in Selangor; two cases each in Johor and Kedah; and one in Sabah.

The death toll now stands at 35,956 since the pandemic began two years ago.

Active cases now stand at 48,300 after 3,836 recoveries reported yesterday.

There are 46,334 cases listed under home quarantine, 23 at Low Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres, 1,883 hospitalised and 60 at intensive care units, of which 34 were ventilated.

For Covid-19 vaccinations, 2,583,627 of the elderly above the age of 60 have taken one dose of the booster shot while 151,356 of them had received their second booster.

In the adult category, 16,137,432 people have taken a dose of the booster shot while 336,661 of them have also been administered with second boosters.

For adolescents (age 12 to 17), 2,883,960 of them have completed their vaccination, while 45,762 have taken their first booster dose and 237 have took their second boosters.

Meanwhile, for children aged five to 11, 1,496,301 have completed their vaccination.

In total, 27,444,054 of the people in the country have completed their vaccination and 16,184,192 have taken their first booster shots.
