Second hiker rescued in mishap today at Kanching Eco Forest Park

KUALA LUMPUR: Barely two hours after saving a British hiker at the Kanching Eco Forest Park waterfall this morning, the same team from the Rawang Fire and Rescue Department hiked for an hour again to rescue another man from the same location.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said seven firefighter were involved in the mission to save the 24-year-old victim, Muhammad Sukurri Sazali, who had fallen 24m.

They received the distress call at 2.08pm and arrived at the park seven minutes later.

The rescue team took about an hour to get to the victim's location, he said.

"The victim had slipped and fallen. The caller said he was conscious, had injuries on his right leg and could not move.

"When we got to him, we found he had hypothermia and had sprained his right leg, aside from injuries on his knee.

"He was given early treatment and brought down in a stretcher. They arrived at the control centre at 5.06pm," he said.

Norazam added the victim was sent to the Selayang Hospital in an ambulance.

Earlier, firefighters rescued British hiker identified as Christopher Jonathan Strutt, 31, who fell and broke his right leg in the same forest.
