Cop dies after losing control of superbike en route to Genting Highlands

KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman was killed on the spot when he lost control of his superbike and crashed into a car at KM2 of Jalan Batang Kali-Genting Highlands at 9.30am today.

Hulu Selangor police chief, Superintendent Arsad Kamaruddin, said the 31-year-old constable was based at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters.

"The accident occurred while the victim, who was riding a Benelli motorcycle, was travelling from Petaling Jaya to Genting Highlands.

"When he approached a sharp bend, he swerved into the opposite lane and rammed into a BMW car driven by a 63-year-old man.

"The victim died of internal injuries. The body was sent to the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The driver was unhurt," said Arsad.

Arsad said investigations will be conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death

by reckless or dangerous driving.

He urged those with information to contact the police.
