3,118 new Covid-19 cases, 6 deaths reported on August 26

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia logged 3,118 new Covid-19 cases yesterday (Aug 26), indicating a slight decrease compared to Thursday (Aug 25) with 3,206 cases.

This brings the country's cumulative infections to 4,771,512 cases, according to Health Ministry's CovidNow data.

Of the new cases, seven were imported cases.

Selangor remains top of the list with 1,080 cases, followed by other states reporting three-digit daily cases.

This includes Kuala Lumpur at 611 cases, Sabah at 294 cases, Perak at 244 cases, Negri Sembilan at 160 cases, and Sarawak at 160 cases.

Authorities also recorded 3,363 recoveries which brings the total to 4,699,584.

According to CovidNow, a total 35,737 active cases was reported yesterday.

Of these active cases, 34,294 people were placed under home quarantine and 23 others were being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres.

The portal reported 1,345 hospitalised patients with 30 placed in intensive care units and another 45 of them requiring ventilator support.

Six deaths were reported including three brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Selangor and Perak reported two deaths each, followed by Putrajaya and Melaka with one death each.

This includes three BID cases from Putrajaya, Perak, and Melaka.

The total number of deaths now stood at 36,191.
