WTCKL encourages visitors to wear face masks

KUALA LUMPUR: Visitors to and associates of the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) are encouraged to wear face masks indoors although the need for it has been made optional by the Health Ministry today.

Its group managing director Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim said the move was to safeguard everyone while being in their compound and they were committed to taking various safety measures to curb the Covid-19 virus spread.

"We have been working closely with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in evaluating our indoor air quality in order to have a safe environment.

"This practice is critical for the safety of all personnel housed in the building at any given time.

"Our safety standard operating procedures will remain, where servers will wear gloves and also face masks.

"We will not jeopardise any safety level by adhering to the government and the local authority guidelines," he told the New Straits Times today.

Since the government has allowed full capacity for indoor event halls, Irmohizam said they will increase the frequency of their safety measures such as frequently sanitising all touchpoints and also having their facilities cleaned regularly.

Earlier today, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced a revision of the face mask mandate, making it optional indoors.

He said premises owners could also decide if their patrons were required to put on a face mask or make it optional for them.

Face masks, however, are still mandatory in all the healthcare facilities such as hospitals, clinics and nursing homes as well as public transportation. They are also recommended for those in high-risk groups.

Khairy strongly encouraged people to continue wearing face masks since it has been proven to contain the spread of Covid-19.
