549 companies featured at international halal expo

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) has returned with a bang after the Covid-19 pandemic years.

The three-day event, which ends on Saturday, will feature 549 companies from 42 countries.

Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry (Mafi) secretary-general Datuk Haslina Abdul Hamid said the event aimed to encourage local SME entrepreneurs to venture into export markets.

It would also share Mafi's role in developing export market space for local agro-food products, she added.

"The countries participating include Indonesia, China, the Philippines, South Korea, and Thailand," she said at the Mihas 2022 launch ceremony today.

Haslina said over 17,000 visitors in the trade and entrepreneurship sector were expected to attend with estimated sales of RM1.24 billion.

The expo will feature over 150 products from Mafi entrepreneurs, consisting of agro-food products, health products and e-commerce applications.
