KUALA LANGAT: A 7-year-old boy died after being struck in the chest by fragments from a broken glass table while playing at his home in Kampung Bukit Changgang, Banting, yesterday afternoon.
Kuala Langat District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor @ Saleh said the incident happened at about 4pm.
"In the incident, the victim was said to be playing alone. The victim's parents were also in the house.
"The child's parents said the victim jumped on the sofa in his house and he fell on a nearby glass table.
"The incident resulted in the victim's chest being hit by glass fragments. The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic before he was transferred to the Banting Hospital where he was pronounced dead while receiving emergency treatment," he said in a statement today.
He said an autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
