Najib to return to Kajang Prison following hospital stint

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who was undergoing treatment at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital (HRC), has been given medical clearance to return to Kajang Prison.

The Health Ministry, in a statement today, said specialists have determined that he has made significant enough recovery.

Najib, who is serving 12 years imprisonment for his role in the misappropriation of RM42 million in SRC International Sdn Bhd funds, was recently transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for medical treatment.

His family had claimed that he was suffering from high blood pressure and ulcers.

From HKL, he was then sent to HRC for physiotherapy, further treatment and observation.

The ministry said Najib has undergone physiotherapy sessions and is now able to can carry out exercises independently.

"The consultants also held a family conference with him and his immediate family members, where they were informed of his latest health situation and monitoring plan.

"Medical consultants from HKL and HRC have given medical clearance for him to return to Kajang Prison," said the ministry.
