Covid-19 admissions saw a dip between Sept 18 and Sept 24, says Dr Noor Hisham

KUALA LUMPUR: Epidemiology Week 38 (EW38) has shown a declining trend for Covid-19 admissions in healthcare facilities between Sept 18 and Sept 24.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said patients under category 1 and 2 cases had decreased by 7.1 per cent and Category 3, 4, and 5 also decreased, by 11.5 per cent.

"Facility bed occupancy percentage declined by one per cent for non-critical and Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres, while Intensive Care Unit bed occupancy also declined, by two per cent.

"Ventilated patients also decreased by 0.2 per cent in EW38," he said in a statement, here today.

Dr Noor Hisham said positive cases monitored by the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) had shown an increase nationwide in terms of fresh cases that were under home monitoring.

"The number of patients coming to CAC decreased by 0.5 per cent (6,754 cases). However, the number of new Covid-19 cases undergoing home monitoring increased by 102 per cent (7,662 cases).

"No changes have been reported in the number of Covid-19 cases referred to hospitals by CAC in EW38 (136 cases)," he said.

He also said that active cases that were monitored by virtual CAC have decreased by 0.47 per cent as compared with ME37 (30,965 cases to 30,819 cases).

In daily cases, Dr Noor Hisham said the cumulative new cases during EW38 had decreased from 13,627 cases to 12,963 cases.

Meanwhile, recoveries have also reported a decline from 14,513 to 13,677 cases.

"Average active cases had also reduced by four per cent to 25,325," he said.

The infectivity rate (Rt) reported no changes in EW38.

Meanwhile, he said that 109 influenza-like illnesses (ILI) were detected with a 14.9 per cent positivity rate.

He added that 2.7 per cent of samples from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) in EW38 tested positive for Covid-19.
