A first and possibly the last for KJ at MoH

PUTRAJAYA: Thanks to the pandemic, Khairy Jamaluddin was only able to attend his first Health Ministry monthly gathering today.

It could very well also be his last.

Khairy said he had informed the ministry's secretary-general that since no monthly gathering had been held for the past two years or so, and Malaysia was no headed towards endemicity, the gatherings should begin again.

"So I asked to reactivate the monthly gathering for October, but this gathering may be my first and last monthly gathering at the Health Ministry," he said in his speech at the gathering today.

Khairy however did not elaborate on what he meant by his remarks.

He said his stint as the health minister was the greatest privilege of his career.

"I feel proud. Even though it was just a short time, thank you for giving me the greatest privilege of my career. I know that wherever I go after this, I will always have a soft spot for the Health Ministry.

"I was appointed as the youth and sports minister in 2013, that's my first time appointed as a minister. So I always say that youth and sports minister is my first love, and now after spending one year at the Health Ministry, I declare that the Health Ministry is the love of my life," he said.

Khairy was appointed as health minister on Aug 27 last year after Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob took over the prime minister's position from Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
