Pahang cops to destroy seized drugs, contraband cigarettes [NSTTV]

KUANTAN: Drugs worth RM420,724 seized from 1,888 cases will be disposed of by Pahang police.

The drugs, confiscated between 2016 and last year, will be destroyed using an incinerator at a waste management facility in Bukit Pelanduk, Negri Sembilan tomorrow.

State police chief Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the drugs included 14 types of synthetic and non-synthetic narcotics seized from 10 districts in Pahang.

He said among the drugs include 5,556g of heroin, 1,620g of methamphetamine, 1,132g of cannabis, 18.92g of ketamine, nimetazepam (43.62g), Yaba (105.48g), Ecstasy (10.08g), ketum in liquid form (2,717 litres), ketum leaves (915g) and codeine (439 litres).

"This is as instructed by the courts because all proceedings and appeal periods for the cases have ended," he said at a Press conference at the Pahang police headquarters here, today.

Meanwhile, Ramli said police seized RM31.3 million worth of drugs between Jan 1 and Sept 30 this year.

At the same event, he said 4.4 million contraband cigarettes worth RM2.81million were seized between 2015 and last month. It will be disposed at Taman Lestari near here today.

"The drugs were seized by the police's Criminal Investigation Department along with other departments in Kuantan, Pekan, Rompin, Jerantut and Cameron Highlands.

"All court cases involving the contraband cigarettes have been completed and have received approval from the Customs Department," he said.
