Pahang state assembly: State govt draws RM2.341bil investments since 2019

KUANTAN: Pahang has attracted investments worth RM2.341 billion between 2019 and August this year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the state secretary's office, through the investment and international unit, had attracted 11 investments from international companies based in Singapore, Thailand and China.

"The RM2.341 billion includes investment from the 11 companies and memoranda of understanding (MoU) signed by the state government (with potential investors). In 2020, the Pahang government signed four investment agreements worth RM920 million.

"In the first eight months of this year, the state government signed seven investment agreements worth RM11.01 billion," he said in a reply to a question from Razali Kassim (BN-Muadzam Shah) at the Pahang state legislative assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang today.

Razali had earlier asked about the total investments attracted by the state government between 2018 and August this year.

In reply to a supplementary question by Andansura Rabu (Pas-Beserah) on which sector was the highest contributor in terms of investment in Pahang, Wan Rosdy replied that Alliance Steel at the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, which deals with metal coil processor, was the top investor in Pahang.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy said phase one of the integrated river basin development project (PLSB) at Sungai Semantan in Temerloh to tackle the floods began in July this year.

"The RM47 million project began on July 12 and will be completed in two years. The state government, through the Irrigation and Drainage Department, has submitted a proposal for phase two of the Sungai Semantan PLSB project with a cost of RM383 million.

"The Pahang government has submitted a proposal for the Sungai Krau flood mitigation plan in Kuala Krau, Temerloh with a cost of RM111 million. The project is expected to begin between next year and 2028, which includes a flood wall, pump house and retention pond to help minimise the risk of floods," he said.
