Funds boost shows government's focus on healthcare, says Khairy

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry commends the 2023 Budget tabled in Dewan Rakyat today, saying that it reflects the government's commitment to health in all aspects of policymaking.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the RM3.729 billion increase in allocation for the ministry was much-needed to ensure Keluarga Malaysia remained healthy, and had access to quality health services.

"The 2023 Budget tabled today also saw that the health services were strengthened, to ensure Keluarga Malaysia's physical and mental wellbeing is guaranteed, and that no one is left behind in achieving this.

"The ministry is also grateful to see that several requests to the government were approved in the 2023 Budget.

"This includes the RM500 one-off payment under Cahayamata Keluarga Malaysia scheme for B40 mothers who give birth in 2023.

"This assistance is expected to benefit more than 200,000 B40 families, in ensuring the health of expectant mothers, and children enjoy nutritious food to reduce the stunted growth problems," he said in a statement, today.

He also said the allocation for the ministry would strengthen the healthcare and wellness programme.

"It will also go towards improving and overhauling health facilities, effectiveness of treatment, replacement of critical and obsolete medical assets as well as digitisation of health services".
