King reminds Malaysians, all agencies to be ready for floods

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has reminded Malaysians and requested all related agencies to prepare for possible floods during the monsoon season.

"The Malaysian Meteorological Department has recently forecast continuous heavy rainfall and the risk of large-scale flooding from mid-November.

"Such preparations will not only focus on reducing the effects of flooding but also develop an effective and structured method of assistance for flood victims," he said in his speech at the national-level 2022 (1444H) Maulidur Rasul celebration held at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre today.

He said the teaching of Islam sought the ummah to be always prepared to face any eventualities.

"In any situation, Allah has reminded us to make all preparations before carrying out any job," he said.

The King said Malaysians should also brace themselves for the climate change phenomenon.
