Egg shortage in Kok Lanas

KOTA BARU: Barely a month after egg shortages were reported in the state capital here, supplies appear to be running low in Kok Lanas as well.

Traders and customers in Kok Lanas said they faced difficulties in buying eggs since last week.

Housewife Suhaiza Abu Bakar said she had not been able to buy eggs since Oct 15.

"I went to several shops in Kok Lanas but could not find any. Some traders told me that they had not received their stock in the last three weeks.

"The traders were not informed about the shortage earlier by the suppliers and many of them were upset," said the mother of five.

A survey at several shopping complexes and sundry shops in Kok Lanas found no eggs on the shelves.

Some traders even placed notices of the shortage.

Several traders in Kota Baru had increased the price of eggs due to the scarcity.

A tray of 30 Grade B eggs could be sold as high as RM15, when the usual price is between RM12 and RM13.
