Toll abolition? Stop deceiving the people, Gerakan's Oh tells Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN: Gerakan has urged DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng to stop deceiving voters, especially with regards to the abolition of toll on the North-South Expressway.

Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong said this is because when Pakatan Harapan (PH) was in power for 22 months, they failed to abolish toll on the highway.

"Lim was once the Finance Minister, but he could not abolish toll.

"Who will believe that if PH comes to power again, toll will be abolished?

"The people have been deceived once and I believe no one will be deceived a second time," he said in a statement today.

Prior to this, Lim was quoted as saying that PH was ready to abolish toll along the North-South Expressway if they were given the mandate to form the federal government after the 15th General Election (GE15).

Citing a China Press report, Lim had apparently said that when PH was in power 22 months, they succeeded in reducing toll by 18 percent.

Oh said Lim and other PH leaders need to stop dishing out manifestos that will not come true in GE15.

"Don't forget when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was prime minister and PH chairman, he once said that the general election manifesto was 'not a bible'.

"At that time, he was also seen clearly rejecting the abolition of toll on the North-South Highway.

"It can be seen lately that PH leaders have emphasised that 22 months was not enough time to solve problems...all this is nonsense and deceiving the voters," he added.

Oh claimed the three PH-controlled states were also in disarray.

He called on PH leaders to serve the people and stop lying about toll abolition again.
