GE15: Rafizi insists he and Anwar understand one another

JOHOR BARU: PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has denied that he and Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were not on the same page over the number of parliamentary seats that can be won by PH.

Such a notion came about after Rafizi set a target of 80 seats that can be won by the opposition coalition, while Anwar on the other hand had confidently forecasted a win of 100 seats.

"I was merely making a statement based on the position of our party that is able to win 80 seats. If we were to work even harder and get even closer to the rakyat then we can win up to 100 seats.

"Therefore, Anwar is correct in saying that we can win 100 seats. There is no issue whatsoever of a lack of understanding or agreement between us," said Rafizi during a press conference after a meet-and-greet programme with the local community of Taman Ehsan Jaya here today.

Rafizi also expressed his confidence that PH could win even more seats compared to their rivals Barisan Nasional (BN) during the general election this time round.

"Whether PH wins 80 seats, or 100 seats, when it comes to the number of seats that can be won by PH, it will definitely be more than what BN is capable of winning," he said confidently.

Yesterday, caretaker Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein had urged both Rafizi and Anwar to find a common ground first and foremost concerning the estimate and projection of the number of seats that can be won by PH come GE15.

Hishammuddin had said that there appeared to be a stark difference in forecasts between Rafizi and Anwar, which seemed to indicate a lack of understanding and agreement between the top two PKR leaders.

"Anwar said that PH can win 100 seats throughout the country, Rafizi on the other hand is saying 80 seats. Both Rafizi and Anwar don't seem to see eye to eye and neither are they on the same page," he told the media in Pagoh, Johor.

Before this, Rafizi had predicted that PH would be able to win 80 parliamentary seats nationwide based on a survey by his research company Invoke Malaysia, while Anwar on the other hand had forecasted 100 seats while also referring to the survey findings of Invoke Malaysia.
