GE15: Only Ismail Sabri for PM, says Annuar Musa

KUALA SELANGOR: Former Ketereh member of parliament Tan Sri Annuar Musa said Barisan Nasional must be remain firm on the decision that Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is its candidate for prime minister.

The caretaker communications and multimedia minister said that anyone from Umno who is nominated to become prime minister apart from Ismail Sabri must be rejected, in line with the decision taken by the Umno general assembly.

"Provided we have enough Parliamentary seats to form the next government, there should be no other candidates from Umno except for Ismail Sabri being the sole candidate chosen by the party.

"We must stand united where this is concerned and only the Umno general assembly can change such a decision where the party is concerned," he said after officiating the Community Day for the Keluarga Malaysia Digital Economic Centre (PEDi) at Felda Bukit Cherakah today.

Also in attendance were caretaker Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and  Selangor BN chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar.

Annuar said the decision made by the Umno general assembly must be respected and adhered to, and if BN was successful, it was up to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to make the decision on the top post of prime minister.

"Don't simply make changes when it comes to the candidate for the post of prime minister. We will support and uphold the decision taken during the Umno general assembly in naming Ismail Sabri as the candidate for prime minister," said Annuar.

He reiterated that the Umno vice president who will be defending the parliamentary seat of Bera is a very capable leader who can bring stability and help to resolve the problems and issues plaguing the country.

"At the time (before the dissolution of Parliament) the government was not stable. Ismail Sabri was the one who brought stability, and he mediated between those who were at loggerheads. In fact, he also brought peace with the opposition," said Annuar.
