According to the state Fire and Rescue Department, the affected areas were SMK Meru, Persiaran Hamzah Alang, Jalan Kasban, Jalan Kenangan, Jalan Khamis, Jalan Jabar and Taman Daya.

"The flash floods were due to heavy rains and clogged drains," an online portal quoted the department as saying in a statement today.

It was reported that the floodwaters had receded and that there was no need to evacuate residents.

The Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID), in a statement issued at 5pm today, said rainfall forecasted by the Meteorological Department and DID's flood-risk modelling suggested that some areas in Klang were at risk of flooding, such as Kampung Teluk Gong, Taman Daya Meru, Meru town and the surrounding areas.
