New Cyberjaya hospital to benefit Sepang folks and reduces wait time at nearby health facilities

CYBERJAYA: The newly operational Cyberjaya hospital is expected to reduce wait time and congestions at nearby health facilities.

Caretaker Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said in his speech that the hospital could also benefit 282,000 people of the Sepang district and its surrounding areas.

"This hospital would not only benefit the people in the area but will also reduce wait time and congestion at nearby health facilities, namely the Serdang Hospital, Kajang Hospital and Putrajaya Hospital," he said.

Khairy added that initially the Cyberjaya hospital was planned to be operated through a public-private partnership model based on leasing, but this was changed to be a public-operated hospital under the Health Ministry.

"Taking into account the need for the ministry to improve their level of healthcare service in the district and to meet the needs of the people.

"It is agreed that the Cyberjaya hospital will be operated by the ministry and become a public hospital," Khairy said.

He added that the Cyberjaya hospital will also be supported by the latest tools and technology and will function as a major specialist hospital.

"This hospital boasts 14 different specialty and services which includes emergency services, general medicine, general operations, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric, orthopaedic, anaesthesiology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, radiology, pathology, psychiatry and mental health, rehabilitation, dentistry and geriatrics."

The hospital, which was rolled out under the 11th Malaysia Plan at a cost of RM508.8 million, has 288 beds, emergency block and 1,006 parking spaces.
