JOHOR BARU: Syazlin Zainal, a part-time actress, died yesterday after falling from the 22nd floor of an apartment in Taman Iskandar near here.
Syazlin, 25, was also a social media influencer.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said his department received an emergency call from the public about the discovery of a woman's body.
"Police investigations found that the woman was a 26-year-old local resident who worked as a part-time actress.
"Preliminary investigations found that the cause of death was due to a fall from the 22nd floor of the apartment and the victim was confirmed dead by a medical officer from Sultanah Aminah Hospital here," he said in a statement.
He said initial investigation did not find any elements of crime and the case was classified as a sudden death.
However, he requested people who witnessed the incident to come forward and provide information to the police at the Taman Pelangi station or contact the investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Mat Nawi Ab Rahman at 016-5050808.
It is understood that the post-mortem is still being carried out at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital Forensic Medicine Department and the body was expected to be buried at the Kassim Noor Islamic Cemetery in Kampung Sungai Danga near here.
Syazlin has starred in several local dramas, including Sitik Tok, Dia Yang Ku Jadikan Suami, Fate Delayed and Ada Yang Ngikut.
Syazlin was the youngest of five siblings and the only daughter in her family.
