GE15: Health Ministry to facilitate voters down with Covid-19 on polling day

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry will deploy its personnel at all polling stations around the country to ensure eligible voters, including those who tested positive for Covid-19, will be able to cast their ballots in a safe manner during the voting day for the 15th General Election (GE15).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reminded all voters to comply with the general measures to control the spread of Covid-19 on the polling day on Nov 19.

"These steps (as outlined in the general measures) are necessary and needed to ensure the voting process runs safely and reduce the risk of infection to other voters as well as staff at the polling centre," he told Berita Harian.

Dr Noor Hisham said the ministry has shared the general measures on its social media platform as reference to all voters in GE15.

Among the requirements as outlined in the general measures including compulsory masking for voters down with Covid-19 when casting their ballots at the polling centres.

The ministry also strongly encouraged other voters to also wear face mask when going out to vote.

"Covid-19 positive voters are not allowed to take public transportation including e-hailing services to go out and vote.

"They must use their own vehicle. In addition, voters who are Covid-19 positive should not stop at other places before and after returning from polling centres.

"Covid-19 patients must head straight home to continue observing quarantine after they cast their vote," said Dr Noor Hisham.

The ministry also recommends voters who are positive for Covid-19 to always sanitised their hands and that they are also encouraged to bring their own sanitising liquid.

"They also need to observe physical distancing at the polling station," he said.

Dr Noor Hisham also encourages other voters who are negative for Covid-19 to follow the same advise.
