Mother of five dies when car rear-ended trailer near Sungai Buloh overhead bridge

KUALA LUMPUR: A 38-year-old woman was killed when the Honda Accord she was in rear-ended a trailer lorry near Sungai Buloh overhead bridge restaurant before dawn today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said another six passengers in the car sustained injuries, including a pair of eight-month-old twin brothers.

He said the driver, a 50-year-old man who is also the deceased's husband, and their 11-year-old daughter were seriously hurt.

Another four children; an eight-year-old daughter, six-year-old son and the eight-month-old twins sustained only minor injuries.

He said a distress call was received at 6.10am and a team from Sungai Buloh arrived 11 minutes later.

"The Honda Accord with a family of seven had rear-ended a trailer lorry that was travelling on the same lane along the highway.

"The front-passenger was pinned to her seat and was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics, two people sustained severe injuries and another four sustained minor injuries.

"All the injured victims were rushed to the Sungai Buloh Hospital with Health Ministry ambulances," he said in a statement today.
