JAKARTA: Tourism Malaysia on Tuesday launched a Malaysian tourism promotion together with one of Indonesia's largest e-commerce platforms, Blibli, in conjunction with a sales roadshow in Jakarta and Medan.
Deputy Director General (Planning) Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof said this initiative is expected to speed up the recovery of the tourism sector, thus helping entrepreneurs and the local community.
"Collaboration with Blibli allows tourism products to be promoted directly to potential tourists," he said at a press conference after the launching ceremony, here.
Also present was Chargé d'Affaires of the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia, Adlan Mohd Shaffieq.
A total of 16 travel agencies, two amusement park operators in Malaysia, 12 hotels, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council and Malaysia Airlines participated in the sales mission.
Tourism Malaysia will also launch a Malaysian promotional programme in Medan on Thursday in collaboration with Malaysia Airlines.
The mission, led by Deputy Secretary General (Culture) of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mohd Yusri Mohd Yusoff, also visited the Blibli headquarters in Central Jakarta.
Mohd Yusri hoped that this programme would become a platform for industry players to jointly rejuvenate the tourism industry of both countries and increase the number of tourists.
As of July this year, Malaysia received 435,156 Indonesian tourists since the reopening of the borders on April 1. – BERNAMA
