Raid on Rafizi's company just a routine inspection - Customs Dept

PUTRAJAYA: Customs Department has clarified that the so-called raid on Rafizi Ramli's company was just a routine inspection.

In a statement today, the department also denied that it had nothing to do with the recent Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission raid at his company.

"In reference to an article published by Malaysiakini dated Nov 16, 'MACC raids Rafizi's office a second time, next will be Customs', is not associated with any other investigation.

"To make things clear, the Customs Department issued one notice to Syarikat Invoke Solutions Sdn Bhd to inspect the company's service tax documents. This is a requirement under the Service Tax Act 2018," it read.

It also said that the proposed inspection of company documents was a routine procedure conducted by the department for audit verification purposes.

"This visitation is also an advisory service on the SST-02 Statement Declaration that the company has made to Customs Department," it said, adding that the public should refrain from jumping into any conclusions as inaccurate reports as such could affect the credibility of the department.

Earlier it was reported that MACC had raided Invoke Solutions as part of an ongoing graft investigation following his RM18.8 million asset declaration.

MACC however denied raiding the office, and said it only sent four officers to collect some financial statements from Invoke Solutions.
