GE15: Couple in wedding outfits turns heads at polling centre.

KUALA LUMPUR: The presence of Lee Choy Yoong and her groom Jackie Har, 30, both 30, at the SK Taman Muda polling centre turned heads as they arrived in their wedding outfits.

The couple arrived at the polling centre after the tea drinking ceremony at the bride's house.

Lee said she woke up at 5.30 am to prepare for the wedding ceremony as well as to vote in the afternoon.

The financial analyst said as a Malaysian, it is her responsibility to vote even though it coincides with her wedding day.

"I live in Taman Muda, near the polling centre. Even though it was a bit of a hassle to organise a wedding and to vote, it was not a problem.

"I am wearing my wedding gown because it is easier as I had to proceed with the other parts of the wedding at my husband's house," said Lee.

She is excited that the voting date fell on the same day as her wedding day and it is an unforgettable experience.

"I came here with 10 of my family members and friends who supported me to carry out my duty today."

She added that besides celebrating her marriage, they will also celebrate the result of the general election which will be announced later tonight.

Meanwhile, her husband Har, who is a security forces personnel, said he had voted early and is honoured to escort his wife to the polling centre to vote on their special day.
