GE15: Nonagenarian has voted more than 12 times in her life

KUALA TERENGGANU: "As I could remember, I have voted more than 12 times, but this 15th General Election (GE15) seems different from others.

"As this is my responsibility, I gathered my strength to come and vote to choose a leader," said senior citizen Semek Said, 93, when at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Nilam here today.

Semek, who has 112 grandchildren and great grandchildren from her eight children, said that in the past, voting did not require the need to dip her finger into the ink.

Despite her old age, she still came out to the voting centre in a wheelchair.

The Quran teacher who resides in Kampung Sena with one of her children, hopes political stability can be achieved following the election today.

"I want a peaceful country, so I hope the voters will choose wisely.

"I do not want to hear squabbles and arguments because at the end of the day we should all come together," she added.

Semek was met by Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Kuala Terengganu Datuk Mohd Zubir Embong and his wife Toh Puan Ramizah Hashim.

Mohd Zubir also sought advice from her on leading a long and happy life.

"Keep praying and take care of your diet, InsyaAllah," she said.
