Mini budget to be tabled - Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR: A mini 2023 Budget will be tabled to approve emoluments, especially payment of salaries for civil servants, caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

He said this would be done if no one particular party could form the government due to lack of a simple majority.

He said the mini budget must be tabled before Dec 31 in time for the January payment of salaries for civil servants.

Ismail Sabri said the tabling of the mini budget was not a complicated process as it did not require further debates or approvals.

"There is no cause for civil servants to worry about payment of their salaries.

"It is just a straightforward process... it will be tabled and passed," he said, adding that the people need not worry as a caretaker government was still in place.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz presented the 2023 Budget on Oct 7, which involved an allocation of RM372.3 billion.

However, it has not been approved or debated in the Dewan Rakyat, following the dissolution of Parliament on Oct 10 after Ismail Sabri received the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
