PUTRAJAYA: Umno Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan deserves to be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister of the unity government as his credibility is accepted by the people and the party.

Umno Youth Exco, Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin or better known as Qobin said Mohamad's tremendous victory in the Rembau Parliament seat and his experience as a former Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar can have a positive impact.

"I am confident that the people can accept Tok Mat (Mohamad) and that he can help Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in leading the unity Government to deal with the economic recession that is expected to take place next year.

"The political challenges are unique now and the dynamics that happened in the 15th general election are quite extraordinary.

"So this good and solid partnership which could definitely maintain the country's political stability for the next few years," he said in a statement today.

At the press conference after being sworn in as Prime Minister at Istana Negara, on Thursday, Anwar assured that two Deputy Prime Minister posts would be created under his Cabinet from among the representatives of the unity government component members.

The Tambun Member of Parliament said it would be filled by representatives from BN and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Yesterday, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun backed Mohamad Hasan's nomination as a Deputy Prime Minister candidate, as he had the strength to be appointed to the post.

In addition, Qobin said, among the young leaders who needed to be provided a space in the coalition Government are Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament, Fahmi Fadzil; former Umno Youth Leader, Khairy Jamaluddin; former Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh, Nurul Izzah Anwar and former Umno Information Chief, Shahril Hamdan.

"If you want to see new political changes for the nation, the Prime Minister needs to have the courage to appoint young leaders to be with him in steering the country so that every layer of the people are not left behind.
