Johor proposes one-month financial aid to state civil servants

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor government announced a special financial assistance amounting to one month's salary with a minimum payout of RM1,000 to civil servants working in the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said this while tabling the state's 2023 budget during the fourth meeting of the 15th Johor state assembly in Bangunan Sultan Ismail, Kota Iskandar here, today.

Onn Hafiz said that the special financial assistance will be disbursed in two payments. Half of the sum would be paid at the end of the year while the other half will be paid before Hari Raya Aidilfitri later.

"The assistance will also be extended to federal civil servants who are paid by the state government, all teachers who are conducting Fardu Ain and Religious classes (KAFA), those teaching trainees at Community Rehabilitation Centres (PDK) and teachers from the Johor Islamic Kindergarten (TAJ)."

He said this was done as a show of appreciation for the contribution of teachers who carry out the state's development and welfare agenda.

This is Onn Hafiz's maiden budget. It is expected to be tabled for the second reading on Dec 11.
