Selangor govt distributes RM25.8 million in aid to 742 schools

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government distributed a total of RM25.8 million to 742 schools in the state through the school aid programme this year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, said Petaling district received the most benefits which involved 222 schools with an allocation of RM7.04 million.

He said Klang district came next, with 134 schools receiving RM6.18 million in funding, and 102 schools in Hulu Langat receiving RM3.9 million.

Amirudin said 68 schools in Kuala Selangor received aid of RM1.99 million, 65 schools in the Gombak district received RM1.79 million, 49 schools in Kuala Langat received RM1.74 million, 39 schools in Hulu Selangor received RM1.19 million, 35 schools in Sepang received RM1.32 million and 28 schools in Sabak Bernam received RM856,000.

"There is currently about RM100,000 left in the aid budget for schools, which totalled almost RM26 million, but we will disburse them as soon as we can," he said during today's State Legislative Assembly session.

He also told the assembly that the school aid was handed out during a series of Selangor Penyayang Tours, which started from June 19 in Hulu Langat until Oct 30 in Sepang.

"The aid was distributed on Oct 17 through the school aid transfer programme involving 225 schools, including Chinese, Tamil, private Chinese secondary schools, national and Catholic secondary schools.

"A total of 501 individuals received the aid on Nov 21, which involved religious institutions, national schools and national secondary schools," said Amirudin.
