Father seriously injured, son missing after crocodile attack in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: A man was seriously injured and his year-old son missing when a crocodile attacked them near the marine police operations headquarters, here.

Lahad Datu fire station chief Sumsoa Rashid said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 10.25am.

Six firefighters were immediately deployed to the site for a rescue operation.

He said the operation was also assisted by police, marine police, and the Health Ministry.

"The man and his son, who are sea gypsies, were attacked by a crocodile while rowing a canoe at the location.

"The man was rescued by the public but suffered serious injuries as a result of the animal attack," he said when contacted, today.

However, the is still missing.

His father, in his 40s, is currently being treated at Lahad Datu Hospital.
